As many of you may already know Project Ara is a modular
smartphone produced by Google. The concept of the phone is to be able to hot
swap certain parts of the phone. Things like the camera, RAM and health sensors
can be pulled out of the phone while it’s running and replaced with a totally
different part.
This essentially makes Androids the “PC’s” of the smartphone
world. Just like buying a barebones PC and upgrading certain hardware as you
see fit, you can now upgrade parts on your Smartphone as you desire. If you
require more RAM you can simply buy a new RAM module and replace your old one.
Check out the demonstration of Project Ara at the Google I/O. Watch modules being taken out and swapped while the phone is still on.
